Prof. JOHANNES MONNO

Keeping the balance between artistic, scientific and educational work represents Johannes Monno's central concern. His deep interest in the instruments and the style of the different epochs resulted in five CD productions and various publications.
In addition to chamber music projects with artists such as Wilfried Jochens, Ingo Goritzki, Olaf Van Gonnissen, Thomas Muller Pering, Kolja Lessing, the ensemble Rilegato and the Trio Gremonda, Johannes Monno has attracted attention by repeatedly performing fine solo concerts focussing on thematically well-chosen programs.
He has held a professorship at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart since 2004.

He is the founder and artistic director of SICG Festival.

LAURA YOUNG

Laura Young is undoubtedly one of the most expressive artists of our time. She was born in Canada with Russian and Irish roots. Her involvement with music began at the age of seven and at the age of nine she enthusiastically devoted herself to the guitar. With rare dedication and intensity, she achieved a technical mastery based on exceptional musicality. She has won international competitions, including the "Andrés Segovia" in Palma de Mallorca and the "Jacinto e Inocencio Guererro" in Madrid.

She studied at the University of Toronto with Eli Kassner, received lessons from David Russell and completed her studies in Cologne with Hubert Käppel with honours.

She has gained worldwide recognition as a soloist. As an inspiring and competent teacher, she is regularly invited to international guitar festivals.

Her irrepressible energy, beauty of sound and wonderful sense of phrasing are regularly praised by audiences and critics alike.

She has released a number of CDs and was the founder and director of the International Guitar Festival in Amsterdam from 1997-2001. Since 2003 she has held a professorship at the 'Escuela Superior de Musica en Catalunya', Barcelona. She has been a university professor of guitar at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2014.


Laura Young he will perform the second half of her concert at the SICG Festival with her congenial duo partner, the renowned baroque violinist Farran James, with whom she founded the duo Epiphania. Farran Sylvan James is a violinist with 30 years of experience in various formations around the world. Specialising in early music, she has performed in all the most important concert halls in Europe as concertmaster and soloist (Musikverein, Palau de la Música, Berlin Philharmonic, etc.) with Ayre Español, Vespres d'Anardi, Bach Consort Wien, Jordi Savall, etc. She has recorded albums for Harmonia Mundi, Challenge, Arsis and Sony. She has also conducted orchestras in Spain and Canada. The Duo Epiphania is dedicated to performing a selection of extraordinary musical highlights from original transcriptions of music by Strozzi, Monteverdi, Arvo Pärt and Béla Bartók. The two musicians will also present original works created for them by contemporary composers Michael Doherty and Apostolos Paraskevas.

LUIS ORLANDINI

 

Luis Orlandini (born 1964) is a Chilean musician with an extensive international career. He studied at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Chile with Ernesto Quezada, at the University of Music in Cologne and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Eliot Fisk. In 1989, he was the only guitarist to date to win first prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. He regularly gives concerts, including premières of numerous works written for him by Chilean composers. He has performed in major concert halls such as the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Teatro Teresa Carreño in Caracas and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, has played with many orchestras and has an extensive discography. He is regularly invited to festivals, masterclasses and as a juror at international competitions. He has received important awards such as the Chilean Copyright Society Prize, the Prize of the President of the Republic, full membership of the Chilean Academy of Fine Arts and, in 2020, the "Don Quixote de la Mancha" Prize from the Miguel de Cervantes University of Chile. He is currently a full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Chile, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and director of the Fundación Guitarra XXI.

 

Duo Orlandini & Luco

RAIMUNDO LUCO

 

Raimundo Luco (born 1998) belongs to the new generation of Chilean guitarists. He completed his studies with the highest honours and began his formal music studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with Luis Orlandini in 2014 alongside his secondary school education, where he was awarded the "Beca Intérprete Destacado" (Outstanding Performer) scholarship three times. He has successfully participated in various competitions, including the Liliana Pérez Corey Classical Guitar Competition, where he won first prize in the youth category, and the XIII Seminario Internacional de Guitarra de Uruguay, where he was awarded the top prize in the chamber music category. Despite his young age, he has been invited to perform as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of Antofagasta and the Chamber Orchestra of the Municipal Theatre of Santiago in concerts in Chile, Spain and Germany. Currently, in addition to beginning his career as a soloist, he forms a duo with Luis Orlandini, specialising in transcriptions of classical-romantic music.
He also actively participates in projects to disseminate art in retirement homes, is a scholarship holder of the Corporación Amigos del Teatro Municipal, member of the Sociedad de Folclor Chileno. In 2023, he received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service, which will enable him to study for a master's degree in Germany.

SALZBURG GUITAR TRIO

 

Internationally recognized as one of the leading guitar ensembles of today, the Salzburg Guitar Trio engages its audiences with their energetic presence and deeply emotional performances. The award-winning ensemble has performed extensively in music festivals and concert halls throughout Europe and North America. Performance highlights in Europe include a televised concert at the ‘Garrigues Guitar Festival’, a tour of the northwestern provinces of Spain, and concerts in music festivals and concert series such as the ‘The Hague Guitar Society’, ‘Tübingen International Guitar Festival‘, ‘Costa Dourada Music Festival’, ‘Guitar Festival ‘Ciutat D’Elx’’, ’Valle dei Laghi International Guitar Festival‘ and ‘Stuttgart International Classic Guitar Festival’. One of the trio’s most exciting projects was their time spent as artists-in-residence based in Antonin Gaudi’s famous modernist building, ‘La Pedrera’, in Barcelona. During the residency, Catalan composer Jose Galeote dedicated his work ‘La Pedrera - En Construcció’ to the trio. Inspired by Gaudi’s remarkable architecture, the trio had the pleasure of premiering the work inside La Pedrera. The trio won first prizes at the ‘Ciutat d’Elx Guitar Festival’ in Spain, the ‘Corelli-Savarez Chamber Music Competition’ in Austria, and ‘Valle dei Laghi Guitar Festival‘ in Italy. As First Prize winners of the Guitar Foundation of America ‘International Ensemble Competition’, the Salzburg Guitar Trio was the first ever ensemble to be awarded a GFA Artist’s Tour. In 2023, the trio‘s GFA Artist‘s Tour took them across North America. Some of their most memorable concerts took place in beautiful concert venues such as the Sundin Music Hall in St. Paul, Minnesota, the 560 Music Centre in St. Louis, Mississippi, and the Margaret Comstock Concert Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, to name a few. The trio also gave public masterclasses for guitar societies, universities and conservatories, as well as outreach concerts. Highlights include coaching soloists and ensembles from the Bachelor and Master programmes at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville, KY and the Mount Royal University Conservatory in Calgary, Canada. The Salzburg Guitar Trio‘s debut album “III“ features highlights of their current programme, and was released in 2023. Upcoming plans include arranging brand new repertoire for their second album, as well as recording John Duarte’s complete works for guitar trio. Salzburg Guitar Trio is comprised of Katie Lonson (Canada), Eliška Lenhartová (Czechia) and Andrew Booth (England). The ensemble was originally formed during their postgraduate solo guitar studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, and welcomes new member Eliška Lenhartová in 2024.

OLAF VAN GONNISSEN

 

Born in Tiengen/Upper Rhine, Olaf Van Gonnissen began taking violin lessons at the age of four and switched to guitar at the age of eight. He became internationally recognised through his concert activities with the "Frankfurter Gitarrenduo". Olaf Van Gonnissen began his teaching career in 1974 with a lectureship at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt. Since 1977, he has also taught at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and has been a professor at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg since 1999. He is a member of the "Mutare Ensemble Frankfurt", "Rilegato" and in a duo with Gertrud Weyhofen. Van Gonnissen is a lecturer at various festivals and a juror at international competitions and co-editor of the new Karl Scheit Gitarren Edition UE. He is particularly interested in the performance practice of early music. He also performs the repertoire of his solo concerts on historical instruments such as the lute, vihuela and baroque guitar.

Prof. TILLMANN REINBECK

Tillmann Reinbeck studied with Luis Martin Diego and Michael Hampel at the University of Music in Trossingen, as well as with José Tomás in Alicante. 2003 he completed his concert exam with Olaf Van Gonnissen with honours. After winning international competitions, he performs worldwide. He teaches at the state music academies in Stuttgart and Trossingen. In 2002, the critically acclaimed CD "Invocación y Danza" was released by Acoustic Music Records. Since 2005, Tillmann Reinbeck has been a lecturer for guitar at the state colleges of music in Stuttgart and Trossingen. He is a competent and conscientious teacher, active as a soloist and is a member of innovative chamber music projects, e.g. the Aleph guitar quartet. 2019 he was appointed professor at the Stuttgart University of Music.

MATEUS DELA FONTE

 

Mateus Dela Fonte has won numerous guitar competitions. He studied in Salvador (Brazil), Barcelona, Madrid and Stuttgart with Mario Ulloa, Àlex Garrobé and Johannes Monno, among others. Concerts have taken him to various countries in Europe and Latin America. As a soloist, chamber musician, lecturer and juror, he has been a guest at festivals such as the International Guitar Festival Mikulov (Czech Republic), the International Guitar Festival Balatonfüred (Hungary) and the International Guitar Festival Guitarmania (Portugal). His second CD "Paisagem Brasileira - Brazilian Landscape" was released in 2013 and is dedicated to the music of his homeland - in particular the Brazilian instrumental style Choro. Part of the CD was recorded as a duo with Vítor Diniz. In the winter semester 2013/14, Mateus Dela Fonte received a teaching position for guitar with a focus on chamber music at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart.

KATRIN KLINGEBERG

 

Katrin Klingeberg began her studies as a junior student at the Stuttgart University of Music with Ihsan Turnagöl and then continued her studies at the conservatories in Hanover, Lucerne and Weimar. Most recently, she studied in Prof Thomas Müller-Pering's concert class at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar and completed her concert exam in 2014. At the same time, she completed a master's degree and subsequent concert exam in chamber music with her partner Sebastián Montes at the renowned Kaltchev Guitar Duo at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. After winning numerous first prizes at international competitions, the guitar duo Klingeberg-Montes is one of the most sought-after guitar duos on the international guitar scene. Katrin Klingeberg has performed successfully in many European and South American countries, as well as in Japan and the USA. She is regularly invited as a lecturer for masterclasses and as a jury member at festivals and competitions. Since 2015, Katrin Klingeberg and Sebastián Montes have been the artistic directors of the Nürtingen International Guitar Festival, one of the most important guitar festivals in Europe. Katrin Klingeberg has been a lecturer at the Stuttgart University of Music since 2016.
