We are thrilled that the renowned Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa has composed a piece for this year's competition, which will serve as the compulsory work. The best interpretation of the piece will receive a special prize, and the performer will have the opportunity to present the public premiere during the "Noche de la Guitarra" on May 10, 2025.

The competition will be held in two rounds:

The 1st round by video submission. The entries of the competition participants can be viewed here:

The final round will take place in person on 10.05.2025 in the concert hall of the Musikhochschule Stuttgart.

Participation Conditions

 

The participation fee for the competition is €30 (including the license fee for the compulsory piece).
Participation is free for active SICG Festival participants (Masterclasses).

Registration Deadline: Thursday 23.03.2025

  1. The jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed.

  2. Participants born after 23.03.1995 are eligible.

  3. A maximum of 25 participants will be admitted. The order of registration decides.

  4. Repertoire:
    1st Round (Video): Free program + first part of the compulsory piece, 9 - 12 minutes.
    Final: Free program + compulsory piece, 20 - 23 minutes.

  5. Please transfer only after your registration has been confirmed!

1st Round (Video)

 

The video must be provided for download via YouTube or another online storage (e.g., Dropbox or wetransfer.com). Please send the corresponding link to office@sicg-festival.de

by Friday 24.03.2025 at the latest, 23:59.
The videos will then be made available for evaluation at www.youtube.com/@SICG-Festival/playlists

  1. The recording must be made frontally, from a fixed camera position. Head and feet must be visible.

  2. Cuts are allowed between pieces and movements. No audio effects may be added.

  3. The video must visibly display the text "SICG-Competition 2025".

  4. If uploaded to YouTube, the title should be:
    IV. Stuttgart International Classic Guitar Competition 2025, 1st Round - *Your Name*.
    Please note the titles and movement designations of the performed works in the accompanying text.
    Set the visibility to "unlisted"!

  5. In the first round, it is compulsory to play (at least) the first section (up to and including figure 5) of the compulsory piece (approx. 2 minutes).

  6. The announcement of the finalists will take place on Friday 31.03.2025
    via email and here on the website.

2nd Round, Final

 

The final will take place in the concert hall of the Musikhochschule Stuttgart
on Saturday 10.05.2025 starting at 9:30 AM.

  1. A maximum of 6 participants will be advanced.

  2. The order will be determined by lot on Friday, 09.05.2025 and announced by email and here on the website by 7 PM at the latest.

  3. Works from the first round are allowed to be repeated in the final.

  4. The presentation of the complete compulsory piece is obligatory (Duration: approx. 6 minutes)!

  5. If the maximum playing time is exceeded in the final, the performance will be interrupted by the jury chairman.

  6. The 1st prize winner is obliged to contribute a short program item at the Noche de la Guitarra on Saturday, 22.06.2025.

The final auditions are public.
